WE'VE BEEN HURT BEFORE, AND WE'RE STRONGER NOW

In early 2014, we suffered a security breach that may have resulted in fraudulent charges to customer credit or debit card accounts (similar to security breaches that major retailers Target and Home Depot suffered in 2013 and 2014, respectively). We learned from that situation, and took steps to improve our online and credit card security practices for the benefit of our customers. Among other things, we:

  • Placed restrictions on access between Craftsman Book Co. websites.
  • NEVER store customer credit card information on our servers. It is now managed by our secure Customer Information Manager, Authorize.net.
  • Improved monitoring of log files to identify attacks in progress and blacklist offending IP addresses.
  • Added PayPal to our list of accepted payment methods.

    Federal law limits losses reported to a credit card company within 60 days after delivery of your statement, so it's always a good idea to monitor your credit card activity.
